Tired of either logging into Facebook frequently, or being entirely oblivious to friends’ activities, I was searching for a way to view the Facebook front page news feed as RSS, so I could load it into my news reader and forget about it.
‘Nemik’ has created such a thing and kindly made it available. It was a bit elderly, and didn’t work with the new Facebook, so I jazzed it up a bit.
Put it on a webserver, configure it, and access the URL to view the RSS feed. Probably a very good idea to provide password protection, as well.
Use at your own risk, and Facebook, please don’t sue me.

Let me guess, this is broken again with the latest revamp? :p Downloading and trying now.
It didn't work for me, so I assume it is broken. :-(
Yep, not working for me either. Bummer. Let us know if you update it again.
Yeah, it's definitely a tricky moving target to track – Personally, I'm thinking I might just hold out until Nambu provide Facebook support.
Wow, quick response. Hadn't heard of nambu before. Interesting. I really just want to be able to stick it in my google reader.
The whole thing is only hurting facebook for me. I never log in to facebook and check it. If they would just give me the news feed, I'm sure I'd click through plenty. Stupid walled garden…
So if I can sway you, I don't think you should wait for nambu :p
I am seriously thinking of developing and hosting this as a supported application. It would be no charge but wanted to see who would be interested in using it. I think I would (not sure that is good enough). Gotta think though the username/password part probably will be part of the URL.

I’d probably use it. There was an application at some point that did this, but my feed, still somewhere in google reader, hasn’t got anything for months.
I ended up taking this and adjusting it to use the mobile version of the feed. It works, but not the best.
I built a Facebook application to-do this http://apps.facebook.com/rssnewsfeedreader/ RSS News Feed Reader. This application allows you to view your Facebook News Feed from within your favorite RSS reader.
